Shibori sugar pines and embroidered flowers wall hanging
A happy little stand of shibori sugar pines with an embroidered field of flowers and warm yellow sunshine! My mother commented that the sugar pines (Pinus lambertiana) are proof positive that I grew up next to the Sierra Nevada mountains of California: I seem to think that all pine trees are tall and slender with droopy branches! (I thought about adding giant pine cones to my trees but left them off this time.....) This is a hand dyed and hand embroidered wall hanging meant to add a little color to a wall, hallway, living room or cabin. It comes on a dowel, ready to hang!
This hanging is dyed using a Japanese style of tie dye called "nui shibori". The patterns are stitched and the stitches tightened to act as a resist when the fabric is immersed in dye.
This wall hanging is 10.5 inches wide and slightly over 17 inches long. It comes on a dowel (12.5 inches) ready to hang. The fabric is hand dyed navy blue cotton, the embroidery thread is also cotton.
