"Waxing Gibbous" mokume shibori wall art
I have always loved the “sumi-e” or ink drawings from Japan and many of my shibori pieces have drawn inspiration from them. This picture of a waxing moon has been stitched using a Japanese shibori technique called “mokume” or “wood grain”. The ripples and stripes within the pattern are a result of the stitching process and completely unique! I have always found this moon a little haunting…. What do you think?
Picture dimensions 13 1/2 by 10 1/2 inches, mat dimensions 20 by 16 inches. The fabric of this art is cotton, dyed with fiber reactive dye.
